Making and Meaning
Alison’s abstracts usually begin with a background colour, setting the key to the painting. In quite a musical way, colours are introduced layer by layer, over many days. During this time, layers of emotion can also be expressed. For example, a painting may move from denoting pain or grief at one stage and  resolution and healing at a further stage. The completed painting contains both a time element, the sense of stages in human life, and a simultaneous suspension of time, expressing how in a whole person the things we have gone through and present joys can all integrate.  Alison welcomes questions or opportunities to discuss her work.
